Patrick Hassien Gbessay Samuels, a passionate advocate for the environment and a dedicated champion for youth mentorship. His enthusiasm lies in fostering innovation, climate education, green and digital upskilling and capacity building initiatives. He is a C40 cities Youth, IOM Africa Youth, former Co-chair for the United Nations Youth Advisory Group Sierra Leone and former Generation Unlimited National Youth Representative in Sierra Leone.

He is the founder and CEO of a promising Climate Tech Innovation and Mentorship Hub, Star Catch-Up Salone, a youth mentor who takes immense pride in having guided three innovators to victory in the ImaGen Venture global innovation challenge of 2022, hosted by Generation Unlimited. He also serves as the Partnership Lead for the Youth Climate Council Sierra Leone.

Patrick and his Star Catch-Up team are presently working on a just energy transition project with the innovation of a carbon free generator, Community-Based Waste Management and Recycling Machinery, showcasing their commitment to climate tech innovation.
He’s had the privilege of representing youths on numerous national and international platforms, including COP29 in Baku Azerbaijan, IOM Climate Negotiators training in Lome-Togo, the African Continental Workshop on Climate Mobility in Nairobi – Kenya where he participated in the development of youth key demand in the Kampala Ministerial Declaration on Migration Environment and Climate Change, and the YouthConnekt Africa summit in Kigali and many other local and high-level forums. Patrick’s advocacy is focused on Climate Tech Innovation, Green jobs and Upskilling, Human Mobility, Just Energy transition, E-Waste solution and Loss and Damage.
